Rocky 9.x Screenshots

Keyboard shortcuts

Keyboard Shortcuts (GNOME Desktop) for screenshots are as follows:

Shift + PrtSc
Capture a selected region and save it to ~/Pictures or ~/.
Ctrl + PrtSc
Copy the entire screen to the clipboard.
Shift + Ctrl + PrtSc
Copy a selected region to the clipboard.
Alt + PrtSc
Capture the active window and save to ~/Pictures or ~/.
PrrSc
Capture entire screen and save to ~/Pictures or ~/.

For clipboard pasting, use Ctrl+V in applications like GIMP or LibreOffice or kolourpaint.


Using the GNOME Screenshot Tool

The default tool offers additional flexibility:

  1. Open Activities > Search for Screenshot615.
  2. Choose between Whole Screen, Window, or Selection modes.
  3. Enable delay timers (useful for capturing menus)

Screenshots auto-save to ~/Pictures/Screenshots unless redirected
