This routers have been found to have very low throughput <2mbps with heavy packet loss during lab experiments. Better option is to use pfsense or Linux machine with firewalld / frr etc.. See appropriate sections of Configure NSX-T 3.0 from scratch with edge cluster and tier gateways for reference.

It is possible to use Cisco CSR V1000 routers on top of KVM / ESXi for some virtual lab / experiments. To do that it was found that below image seemed to boot and work properly:
