To create a new instance (VM) in cloudstack use following steps:

  1. Login into appropriate domain (tenant) as domain admin
  2. Click on ‘Instances’ and ‘Add Instance’. Select ‘ISO’ button and click ‘Next’
  3. From the ‘Select A Template’ screen, select OS ISO from the ‘My ISOs’ or 'Featured' section. Also choose the hypervisor type and click ‘Next’.
  4. Select a ‘Compute Offering’ and click ‘Next’.
  5. Choose a ‘Data Disk’ offering.
  6. Choose defaults for ‘Affinity’
  7. In network offering select network available to this particular tenant.
  8. In ssh key pair click next.
  9. Set the instance ‘Name’ from the ‘Review’ screen. Also select keyboard 'Standard US' and click ‘Launch VM’
  10. Wait for the instance to start ‘running’. Takes a few seconds depending on the performance of your CloudStack IaaS infrastructure.
  11. Access Instance console and install OS.
  12. After OS installation on reboot choose 'Detach ISO' and reboot again to boot into installed OS.
  13. Click on the running instance for additional details.
