To create a new instance (VM) in cloudstack use following steps:
- Login into appropriate domain (tenant) as domain admin
- Click on ‘Instances’ and ‘Add Instance’. Select ‘ISO’ button and click ‘Next’
- From the ‘Select A Template’ screen, select OS ISO from the ‘My ISOs’ or 'Featured' section. Also choose the hypervisor type and click ‘Next’.
- Select a ‘Compute Offering’ and click ‘Next’.
- Choose a ‘Data Disk’ offering.
- Choose defaults for ‘Affinity’
- In network offering select network available to this particular tenant.
- In ssh key pair click next.
- Set the instance ‘Name’ from the ‘Review’ screen. Also select keyboard 'Standard US' and click ‘Launch VM’
- Wait for the instance to start ‘running’. Takes a few seconds depending on the performance of your CloudStack IaaS infrastructure.
- Access Instance console and install OS.
- After OS installation on reboot choose 'Detach ISO' and reboot again to boot into installed OS.
- Click on the running instance for additional details.
