For configuring Vvol between EMC Unity 300 and VMWare use following steps:
At EMC Side
- Under Storage -> Block go to ISCSI Interfaces and give IPs for iSCSI for both Storage processors
- Under Storage -> Pools create required pools
- Under Storage -> VMWare create required capability profiles
- Under Access -> VMWare both vCenter and ESXi hosts should appear properly
- Under Storage -> VMWare under datastore create required datastore and give access to required ESXi hosts
At VMWare Side
- Create required storage switch with desired kernel port using available NICs for storage access
- In hosts and clusters view go to Host. Go to configure. Select storage adapters. Scroll down the list to get to last iSCSI software adapter
- After selecting iSCSI software adapter under network port binding add the kernel port created in step 1
- Then for same software adapter under Target add IP addresses given to all four storage processors for EMC storage (previous step 1)
- Rescan iSCSI software initiator adapter
- After rescan under paths additional paths should be visible
- Go to host and then go to datastore. Try to add datastore of type Vvol.
