CentOS 7.x lxc use graphical applications

By default lxc templates only have command-line utilities as graphical access to containers is not very common. However, if graphical access is required use:

  1. List available environments 
    yum group list
  2. Install desired enviornment such as "GNOME Desktop" using 
    yum install @^"GNOME Desktop"
  3. Exit from container
  4. Use "ssh -X" to connect to container with X11 forwarding enabled
  5. Try to run graphical application such as "gedit &" and validate.
