Deploy and configure vRealize Log Insight 4.5

- Download appropriate vrli ova (Eg VMware-vRealize-Log-Insight-4.5.1-6858700.ova)
- Choose desired name (eg vrli1.rnd.com) and template folder.
- Choose desired compute.
- On 'Review details' page click next
- Accept license agreement and click next
- Choose desired configuration (small/medium/large) based on environment and click next.
- Choose virtual disk format (Thin/Thick, etc.) and desired datastore. Clickl next.
- Choose desired network and click next
- On next page choose appropriate values such as:
- Networking properites
- Appropriate static IP
- Root user password
- Redacted
- SSH key
- Leave blank
- and click next
- On "Ready to complete" review details and click "Finish" to start deploying ova.
- Power on the appliance after it is deployed. Wait for machine to boot. It takes considerable time to configure itself and reboots. After reboot colored vrli screen will come with FQDN displayed.
- Open https://<vrli-fqdn-or-ip>/ to start web based vrli setup
- Click "next" on the setup wizard
- Under Choose Deployment type choose "Start New deployment"
- For admin user enter desired email ID and password and click "Save and continue"
- Enter vrli or "VMware vCloud Suite Enterprise" license and click "Add license". After necessary licenses have been added click "Save and continue"
- Enter email IDs where notifications should be sent. HTTP push URLs can be left blank. Opt out of CEIP and click "Save and continue"
- On time configuration page give local NTP, if any and click "Save and continue"
- On "SMTP configuration" give necessary details or optionally skip if you do not need vrli to send emails.
- Finally click "Finish" to complete vrli setup wizard.
- On "Ready to Ingest Data" click on "Configure vSphere Integration" link.
- Same can also be reached by using top right menu -> Administration -> Integration -> vSphere.
- Add vcenter details (Eg vcenter.rnd.com, administrator@vsphere.local, etc.) and click "Test connection".
- Leave collect vcenter events and configure ESXi hosts selected. Click "Save" after "Test successful" message is displayed.
- Go to interactive analysis and vcenter and ESXi logs should appear.
- After a while if you go to administration -> hosts then vcenter and all ESXi hosts should appear.
- Under licensing valid licenses and usage should appear.
