If you want to make search or quickfilter faster in thunderbird then it makes sense to enable global search and index. Also sometimes if expected results are not visible then it is possible to rebuild this global search index database.
Enabling global search and index
To enable global search and index use:
- Go to Go to Edit -> Preferences -> General -> Indexing (Last option)
- Select checkbox against "Enable Global Search and Indexer"
- Restart thunderbird
Rebuilding global index database
If the expected search results are not shown it is possible to rebuild the database using:
- Stop thunderbird
- Go to .thunderbird/<profile-folder>/
- Delete or move file named 'global-messages-db.sqlite' to another location
- Start Thunderbird again. Overtime the index should get built / refreshed automatically.
