While changing vMkernel IPs on very slow VPN connecting using vCenter web interface, had to refresh a browser a few times. After that ESXi seems to have lost all its configuration. Rebooting it also did not help. It was connected to vCenter, showing as part of distributed switch but all vMkernel adapters were not visible.
To solve this restored ESXi to last known good configuration. For that reboot ESXi:
- When server is booting and there is option to interrupt booting press 'Shift+R'
- Enter 'Y' on warning page where it gives option related to restoring
- After this wait for server to boot. It should fix lot of vSAN errors. However now ESXi vMkernel adapters should appear fine.
- Enable/Disable HA on cluster if required.
- Reconfigure the host for vSphere HA, if required
